Rachin Ravindra's father is originally from India, his name is Ravi Krishnamurthy. He was in India until 1990. But after that he moved to Wellington, New Zealand. But Ravi was fond of cricket. For that, he had also started a cricket club in Wellington. Ravi's same passion was also cultivated by his son and currently he has become a match winner for New Zealand. Ravi has named Rachin Ravindra because of his passion for cricket.

When Ravi was in the 1990s, two Indian players were in great form and had left their mark on the cricket world. So, he named his son after these two players. These two great players of India were Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. While naming his son, Ravi took the word 'Ra' from Rahul. Then he removed the first word from Sachin and took the two words 'Chin'. Accordingly, Ravi has named his son Rachin. So, even though the name Rachin sounds different to hear, it is clear what is behind that name and how this name was born.
