rules: Aadhar card has now become an important identity card. Your name,
gender, date of birth and address are given on the back of the Aadhar card. But
if any information on the Aadhar card is wrong or you change your address
frequently, what is the limit? Many people may not know this. Some rules have
been made for changing Aadhar. But many people are not aware of them.
How many times can you change your
name and address?
According to
the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Aadhaar card holders are
allowed to change their name a maximum of 2 times. While gender and date of
birth can be changed only once. However, you can change the address on your
Aadhaar card as many times as you want. There is no limit for this. You can
change your address online by providing valid proof such as electricity or
water or telephone bill as well as rent agreement or by visiting an Aadhaar
enrolment centre.
How to change name
Gazette Notification Required
To curb
fraud cases against citizens, the government has decided to change the process
of changing or correcting the name in Aadhaar card. According to the Unique
Identification Authority of India, now users will need a gazette notification
if they want to change the name in their Aadhaar card.
If you want
to change the name written in your Aadhaar card, you need to remember that
UIDAI gives only two options for name change. While UIDAI has made the name
change process difficult, it has simplified the process of changing the address
or registering a new one. Now, any public sector bank passbook can also be used
for these tasks.
Many women
have to change their surname after marriage. Therefore, you can change your
name on Aadhaar card only once. For this, you have to go to the Aadhaar
enrollment center. This process happens after submitting the form by attaching
the required documents. After taking the biometric data, the document proof is
scanned and the original document is returned. After this, your name is changed
in a few days. For this, you will spend about Rs. 50 at the Aadhaar center.
How to change date of birth
If you want
to change your date of birth on Aadhaar, you will have to visit an Aadhaar
enrolment centre for that too. Because you get this opportunity only once. You
can provide one of the documents as proof like PAN card, birth certificate,
passport, bank passbook, university certificate. For this, you will have to
fill a correction form. The officials present at the Aadhaar centre will take
and verify your biometric details, which includes everything from your
fingerprint to eye scan. Your form will be checked and the information will be
confirmed by you. If your documents are found correct, your date of birth is
updated. For this too, you will be charged Rs 50.
How to change address
You can
change the address in Aadhaar card online even from home. You can also apply
offline by visiting the Aadhaar Enrollment Center. Know what is the process of
changing the address online.
– First of
all, go to the official website of UIDAI myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.
– Enter your
12-digit Aadhaar number to login. After that, fill in the captcha code and
click on Send OTP.
– An OTP
will come on your registered mobile number. Enter it and log in.
– Go to the
Aadhaar Update option in the top menu. After that, click on the Proceed to
Aadhaar Update option.
– Now select
the address on the next page and click on the Proceed to Aadhaar Update option.
– After
that, your current address will appear on your screen.
– After
that, the option of the address you want to update will appear. You will have
to fill in the details of the new address.
– After
that, you will have to upload some documents.
– You will
have to click on both the check boxes given below and click on Next.
– After this
you will see the payment option. Here you will have to pay a non-refundable fee
of Rs 50.
– You will
get a receipt as soon as the payment is completed. After this, your Aadhaar will
be updated in a day or two.
– You will
get a message on your registered mobile when the new address is updated on your
Aadhaar.
To change
the address in Aadhaar card, you are accepted to submit more than 28 documents.
You can submit any of these documents that contain the address you want to
update.
